We chose this hotel as we were to visit Beamish Open Air Museum after our overnight stay. Arrived 4pm, easy and pleasant check in; nice reception staff. Pre-arrival communications with reception staff were very helpful in booking our evening meal and requesting a ground floor room as their lift was out of order. All requests carried out. Lovely room. Cosy but had all we could need for an overnight stay. Beautiful en suite bathroom with shower. The cleanliness throughout the hotel was top notch. We dined at The Stables for our evening meal. I had in mind the restaurant would be "posher" than it is. It's quite a rustic feel; wooden tables with an eclectic mix of dining chairs. No tablecloths. Very functional. But suits the surroundings as it is former stables. The food was delicious, which is the most important thing anyway. The cocktails fabulous. But I did feel the service left a little to be desired. Keeping an eye on customers empty glasses to prompt re-orders for instance. We had to wave a waitress over a few times. A couple of other small issues but overall we did enjoy our meals. The Tiramisu Brownie was divine. My Vegan Ramen was fab (I'm a vegetarian but the Ramen was the only meat free main dish). Certainly enjoyed it. Plans are to have more meat free dishes available. Hubby had a medium sirloin - fab, too. Food and drinks prices aren't out of the way and the later busy-ness of the restaurant proved it's a popular choice. We dined at 5.30pm; quiet at that time but by the time we left the bar after our meal (8.30pm-ish) it was very busy. Breakfast was in The Stables restaurant. Continental breakfast offered together with full English and a great variety of other hot options (Eggs Benedict etc). Lovely breakfast. Exactly the right sized portion. Very enjoyable. We'll certainly consider staying again as the hotel has lovely, comfortable rooms as well as the restaurant and bar.

Perfect location next to Beamish Living Museum. Hotel gave 15% discount code on Beamish entry ticket. Hotel very grand looking, retaintained it's charm inside too. Clean & tidy nice entrance & lounge area. Friendly reception & staff throughout. Wedding fare on so was able to see how the dining rooms were set up for a wedding. Lovely grounds for wedding photos. Booked cheapest room as only staying one night in twin room. Nice size, big comfy beds, clean bedding. Soft big bath towels. Good shower. Nice complimetary toiletries. Tea/coffee with biscuits & bottle of water each. Ate in the Stable Barn restaurant which is a separate building outside. Lovely charm in the main bar room & dining area. Food high standard, plenty of choice, well presented & reasonably priced. Allergy awareness. Excellent choices for breakfast. Will definitely book to stay again & especially when revisiting Beamish Museum as entry to Beamish is unlimited for a year after buying entrance ticket.

Upon seeing the hotel on arrival it was a wow! The room was clean and comfortable. The converted stable block housed the bar and restaurant and was a very welcoming sight after a full day at the Beamish Village Museum (less than 5 mins away and a fantastic day out!). The staff in the stable block were very helpful (a special mention to the lady I believe was the manager (she had red hair) and the young lady behind the bar (long blonde hair) both went out of their way to make sure everything was ok). The restaurant for dinner had a fabulous choice of food, it took a while to decide what to have! Same with breakfast, everything was catered for! Overall a fabulous choice for our short break!

From the moment we arrived, the reception staff, restaurant staff and house staff were superb. Nothing was too much trouble, we were all made welcome and our comfort was their main objective. The grounds and setting were perfect. And as we had booked here to visit the Beamish Museum on 2 consecutive days and only being 1 mile away was spot on. We also got 25% discount to the museum for staying at the hotel. It was one of the quietest hotels we have stayed in regarding slamming internal doors and as we were facing the car park expected noise from there, but again nothing that disturbs our sleep.

Denise

The property was stunning! The ground were absolutely lovely. The stables bar was great and a lovely place to sit outside in the sunshine. The staff from reception to the stables bar and breakfast in the morning were excellent. So friendly and kind they really made our stay enjoyable.
